The Project
For this project we had to pick a disease that is caused by the miss-folding of a protein. The disease my group picked was ALS or Lou Gehrigs Disease. We had to figure out how ALS happens, we figured out that ALS is caused by a mutation in the protein SOD1.
Content
DNA: The genetic makeup, made up of amino acids.
mRNA: Messenger RNA is a copy of your genetic coding that travels in the cytoplasm.
tRNA: tRNA connects to mRNA to release an amino acid.
Amino Acids: used to create proteins, when combined with each other they create a polypeptide chain.
Polypeptide: This makes up a protein, amino acids create them.
Protein: A combination of amino acids.
Ribosome: The organelle used to create polypeptide chains.
Nucleus: Contains your DNA, the brain of the cell

Reflection
Overall, this project was really fun because I got to work in a group of friends. But It was hard to learn protein about was hard because my teammate were a little bit of a distraction. But working with people you're comfortable with makes splitting up the work much easier, and we were also able to work well with each other. I also could have contributed more, I was absent for a couple days and was unable to help my team near the end days of the project. All in all, this project was great because my group had a fun time doing it and we worked very well with each other and would want to do it again.
